Spider Plant

580.00

Chlorophytum comosum is a species of perennial flowering plan t. It is native to tropical and southern Africa, but has become naturalized in other parts of the world, including western Australia.Chlorophytum comosum is easy to grow as a houseplant; variegated forms are the most popular.
Long grassy green-and-white-striped leaves. Periodically a flower stem emerges, and tiny white flowers—not always produced—are replaced by young plantlets, which can then be detached and rooted. Spider plants are easy to grow and thrive under a variety of conditions.
Fertilizer for spider plants should be applied sparingly, as over-fertilization will result in brown leaf tips just as chemically laden water. There is no specific spider plant fertilizer. Any all-purpose, complete, water soluble or granular time-release fertilizer suitable for houseplants is acceptable.
Spider plants outside make excellent spreading groundcovers and border plants around trees. In zones 10-11, they can grow and spread aggressively.
Common name : Chlorophytum comosum
The maximum height and spread of most Spider Plants is around 30cm / 12in. If they have cascading stems (see below) this will add significant length to the plants appearance.
